People are adopting sled dogs

sled dogs CompanyEvery cloud seems to have a silver lining.  In 2010 we heard of the euthanizing of 56 sled-pulling dogs.   As a result, sled dogs are being adopted more often in British Columbia.

Because of the publicity this case received, people are also  socializing regularly with other sleddie parents.

For instance, the executive director of the Victoria Humane Society hosted nearly 30 sleddie owners and their dogs  at a special event on her property.

Tightly-knit groups of sleddie owners have sprung up all over British Columbia.  They go for walks together, share a Facebook page and even dog sit for each other.

Judge orders dog be euthanized after attack

A British Columbia judge ordered that a dog be euthanized and another dog be severely restricted after a smaller dog was attacked.   The Okanagan Global News said Buddy is being returned to the owner on several conditions, including: the pit bull must be contained by a fence that’s at least five-feet high, the owner must take his pet training, the owner’s home must be locked at all times, and if the owner moves, he shall notify B.C. Australia threatens to euthanize Johnny Depp’s dogs

Johnny Depp is in Australia filming another Pirates of the Caribbean film.  The Daily Caller website says Johnny Depp brought his two Yorkshire terriers with him to Australia, and now the country is threatening to euthanize the animals if he doesn’t get them out by Saturday.  Read more.
